Advertising Disclosure
How Route & Fleet makes money, where advertising appears, and the wall between advertising and our editorial coverage of route and fleet software.
Last updated 20 July 2026
Route & Fleet is free to read because advertisers pay for space on the page. This document explains exactly how that works, because a publication that reviews software owes its readers a clear answer to "who pays you?".
How we make money
Display advertising. We show advertising served through Google AdSense. Google and its certified partners choose which ads appear, based on the content of the page and — where you have consented — on your browsing history. We are paid per impression and per click.
That is currently the whole of it. If we add a second revenue stream, this page changes before the stream goes live.
What we do not do
- No paid editorial. Nobody can buy an article, a mention, a favourable comparison or a place in a list.
- No sponsored posts or guest posts. We decline link-insertion, "content partnership" and paid guest-post offers.
- No vendor review before publication. Companies we write about do not see articles in advance and cannot request changes to conclusions. They can, like anyone, request a factual correction after publication.
- No affiliate links today. If we ever add them, every affected page will carry a visible disclosure at the top, and this page will list the programmes involved.
Where advertising appears
Ad units appear in a fixed set of positions and are labelled "Advertisement":
| Position | Where |
|---|---|
| Leaderboard | Below the article header, above the body text |
| In-article | Between major sections, twice at most in a long article |
| Sidebar | Alongside the article on wide screens |
| Footer | Below the article body |
We deliberately keep density low. Ads are never placed to look like navigation, never disguised as article links, never stacked above the headline, and never interleaved so that a reader might mistake one for our own content — all of which are also Google's own policy requirements.
Advertising has no influence on coverage
Editorial decisions — what we cover, what we conclude, which trade-offs we highlight — sit entirely with the editor, Nil Masferrer Jiménez. Our advertising is served programmatically: we do not have direct relationships with the advertisers whose ads you see, and in most cases we could not tell you in advance who they will be. A software vendor advertising on this site receives no editorial benefit whatsoever, and would not be able to obtain one by asking.
Your control over advertising
- Use the Cookie settings link in the footer to accept or reject advertising cookies at any time.
- Reject them and you still see ads, but they are non-personalised — selected from the page's content rather than your history.
- Opt out of Google's personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings.
- The cookie policy lists every advertising cookie we are aware of.
Advertise with us
We accept direct display advertising alongside programmatic inventory. Direct campaigns are subject to the same rules: clearly labelled, never disguised as editorial, and no influence over coverage. Enquiries go through the contact page under "Advertising and partnerships".
Reporting a problem with an ad
If an ad on this site is broken, misleading, adult, deceptive or otherwise inappropriate, please tell us with the page URL and a screenshot. We block offending advertisers and categories in our ad settings and report them to Google.
