4. Advertising: Google AdSense and its partners

This website displays advertising served by Google AdSense and Google's advertising partners. This is how the site is funded.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.
  • Where required, we ask for your consent before any advertising or analytics cookie is set, using a consent banner that implements Google Consent Mode. Until you consent, ad and analytics storage remain denied and only non-personalised, contextual advertising may be served.
  • More information is available in Google's advertising privacy notice.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the site footer.

5. Analytics

If analytics is enabled on this site, it is used only to understand which articles are read and how people move through the library. IP addresses are anonymised where the tool supports it, and analytics cookies are only set after you consent.

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

  • Advertising and measurement providers (Google AdSense and its certified partners) as described above.
  • Hosting and content delivery providers who store and serve this website on our behalf.
  • Email service providers, if you subscribe to the newsletter.
  • Authorities, where we are legally obliged to disclose information.

Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area. Where that is the case, transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.

9. Security

We use HTTPS across the whole site, restrict administrative access to the people who need it, and keep our build tooling and dependencies patched. No website can promise absolute security, but we take reasonable and proportionate technical and organisational measures to protect your information.

Our articles link to vendor documentation, regulators and research sources. Once you follow an external link, that site's privacy policy governs your data. We are not responsible for the practices of any third-party website.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always shows the current version. Material changes will be announced on the homepage for at least 30 days.
